Studio Zoom Recital Fall ‘22

My Mission:

My goal is to educate, guide, and inspire you whether you wish to pursue music as a career or as a creative release. In my 8 years of teaching private lessons, I have taught students ages 5 and up. I teach beginning through advanced levels, as well as students who want to work together on improvisation. I also teach jazz piano and theory to advanced students.

My curriculum covers technique, reading, scales, harmony, rhythm, ear training, and improvisation. I strive to engage the student’s ear in each lesson, however I also place an emphasis on teaching techniques for reading music from an early age. I adapt my teaching materials from a mix of interest-driven repertoire, the Faber Piano Adventures method books, and my own books. I believe that the student should have a choice in what they would like to work on, and performance material becomes increasingly self-directed as students advance in skill. I also believe that community is important for learning, so I hold a recital twice a year for students to perform and meet each other!

Along the way, my piano lessons foster curiosity, creativity, patience, and perseverance - all important traits for musicianship. Wherever you are on your musical journey, I take care in meeting you there and adapting my approach to your needs and interests so you can experience the joy and lasting benefits of music.
